Writing off your mortgage

I'm not sure if this question has been answered before?

Once you've paid off your mortgage can you get another mortgage on the same property and write off the interest again?

Hello Living in Alberta!

From our experience, yes, you can do this. I would double check with a good accountant before you do it in case we're missing something but I don't see any issues here. There may be limits to what you can claim you are using the new money for... so you'll want to check that out before you do it.
